The Amazing Digital Circus - My 2 Cents

Posted by GearGades - October 14th, 2023

Yesterday, Glitch, best known for their series Murder Drones, dropped the pilot for The Amazing Digital Circus - a project created, written and directed by Gosseworx.

Premise: the Story centers around a group of players trapped in a VRGame called The Amazing Digital Circus - a Jaw Dropping-Heart Stopping-Mind Bending-Paraphernalia world, controlled by an Eccentric A.I. Ring master Caine.

The groups' cast comes to grow when another player, a Jester girl who has no memory of her name, joins the troupe; named Pomni, the new member is given a round down of the crazy looking circus by the other characters. Pomni, already rattled by her VR predicament, and in her desire to get out - specially after seeing the exit door to the game - is warn of the adverse consequences of letting herself get loose in her desperation, and Caine keeps the cast members in mental check with daily activities.

However, Pomni and the others soon come to discovers one of the members has gone through the breaking point and Abstract - a form corruption madness caused by the mental anguish of been stuck in the game for so long - and try to find a way to deal with the threat as Pomni searches for the way out.

_My 2 Cents_

What a time to be alive - if we're not getting Kaiju news & trailers every months, then its the parade of new Animation by independent creators in what I can only describe as a renaissance (if you will) for the Online Independent Animation Genre, as we see works like Murder Drones, Helluva Boss, Monkey Wrench, Lackadaisy and Hazbin Hotel (soon to finally debut in Amazon Prime in Jan, with a 2nd Season in the works) taking center stage, after what feels months - if not years - of non stop bad news in the animation industry with Disney, Neflix and WBs among others either closing down or merging their animation departments, with tons of layoffs and show cancellations, not to mention disastrous animations shows (like Velma) taking center stage at times.

The unquestionable level of talent, still evident in the online scene, demonstrate that there are people out there ready and willing to give an audience seeking to enjoy animation, and the pilot for The Amazing Digital Circus doesn't disappoint.

The characters are stocked in what it is essentially a surreal Circus theme Colorful Wackyland, located in a Hubworld called the Grounds, which only contains the Digital Lake and the Digital Carnival controlled by an eccentric A.I. which acts like the God to this realm surrounded by the Void. Despite this, Caine has limits to his powers, with the only mystery in all of this been been "C&A" - probably the company that likely operates the game, and Pomni may be attached to (a possible hint to this is given in a scene where she kinda cracks).

For a Pilot, the characters are well rounded and not one feels to be a drag. They are well round up and compliment to each other. Even the more dick-esh of the bunch, Jax, comes out likeable in his way, despite been such an ass to the others.

Really, the only negative I can find are I wanted more and the hints to what may be the mystery to this world. It's a strong 9 out of 10 in my watch, and much like the other examples of Independent Online Animation I have given, The Gang of the Amazing Digital Circus has earn a watch from me in their future Jaw Dropping-Heart Stopping-Mind Bending-Paraphernalia Misadventures to come.
